JAMMU, Sept 29: Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh, today convened the District Level Review Committee of the Bankers to monitor the functioning of the banks in the last quarter of the current Financial Year.
The meeting was attended by the Lead District Manager, representatives from RBI, NABARD and all other banks operating in the district.  The performance of the banks was particularly reviewed in aspects related to CD ratio, Priority Sector Lending, Kissan Credit Cards etc.
The DC expressed concern at the decreasing trend shown by the CD ratio in the last quarter and urged upon the bankers to achieve the set target of 40 percent by the SLBC. Further, the DC showed concern at the dismal level of KCC achievement at 20 percent and directed the bankers to liaise with Agriculture Department to organize a district level session of Gram Sabhas on a particular day so as to meet the target.
Because of poor KCC coverage, the Agriculture sector lending stood at a meager 6 % against the target of 18 %. The DC, however, appreciated the performance of banks in meeting the targets of priority sector lending. The DC also urged upon the banks to increase the coverage under the Educational Loans. The DC appealed to SBI to organize a district level seminar on educational Loans for the teaching community who can then spread the message to the student community.
Later, the DC announced that the border of Jammu will be covered under the PM’s Jeevan Suraksha Beema Yojna’s Suraksha fixed plan which involves a lifelong cover of Rs 2 lakh in case of accidental death on onetime payment of Rs 200. He directed the bankers to cover the eligible people of border areas under this plan as any firing related casualty can be covered under it.
The SDMs of border areas have been made accountable for ensuring complete saturation of border residents under this plan. The performance of the banks related to the border coverage shall hence forth be reviewed in each DLRC meeting.
