CHHAMB, Sept 21: Seeking the support of the people for Congress to establish a stable and pro-people government in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge today lambasted the BJP for pursuing anti-youth and anti-poor policies.

Telephonically addressing a mammoth rally at the border town of Chhamb in favour of party candidate and former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Kharge especially mentioned the Agniveer scheme launched by the BJP government.
“Being the residents of a border area, you are very much aware that the BJP-led government at the Centre is compromising with the nation’s security and defense by launching the Agniveer scheme”, he said.
Congress president who arrived here today morning in Jammu for addressing a public meeting at Khour, could not reach there due to refusal of chopper permission by the authorities. He addressed the rally from Jammu telephonically.
He strongly criticized the BJP’s Agniveer scheme, calling it a reckless move that jeopardizes the future of India’s youth and undermines the integrity of the country’s defense forces.
“The Agniveer scheme is nothing but a short-sighted attempt by the BJP to exploit the aspirations of young Indians. By offering temporary, four-year stints in the Armed forces without any long-term benefits, this scheme deprives our youth of stable career opportunities and fails to provide them the respect and security they deserve.”
Kharge also expressed concern over the impact on the armed forces, stating that the scheme could compromise the professionalism and morale of the military.
“Our armed forces are built on the foundation of discipline, experience, and dedication. By introducing short-term recruits under the Agniveer scheme, the BJP is playing with the future of our defense forces, risking their effectiveness and weakening our national security”, he said.
Kharge highlighted the BJP’s failure to deliver on its promises of development and good governance, accusing the ruling party of neglecting the aspirations of the people.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and special AICC observer for J&K, Mukesh Agnihotri asked people to support coalition candidates to install a pro-people government in Jammu and Kashmir.
“For the last 10 years, BJP has been ruling J&K through proxy. It is high time to teach the BJP a lesson for its misdeeds and anti-people policies”, he said.
“The future of Jammu and Kashmir lies in its people. The Congress party is committed to standing with you in this journey, and we will work tirelessly to restore your rights, your Statehood, and your prosperity”, he assured the people.
Former Deputy Chief Minister and Congress candidate Tara Chand, who organized the impressive rally, in his address said that the whole of Jammu and Kashmir is bearing the brunt of the wrong policies of the BJP but Jammu is the worst victim of Saffron Party’s misdeeds.
He mentioned that locals of the Jammu region have been politically, economically, and socially disempowered by the BJP-led administration. He said that Jammu and Kashmir has been plunged into unprecedented crisis due to the misdeeds of the BJP-controlled administration.
