UDHAMPUR, Dec 12: A Special Police Officer (SPO) was assaulted by an unidentified bovine smuggler who was driving the truck loaded with bovine animals in Majalta.
Even as Police seized the truck and rescued all the bovine animals, the accused smuggler managed to flee.
The incident took place near Battal in Majalta, when the truck bearing registration number JK03B-0887, which was coming from Battal side towards Udhampur and being driven rashly, hit two vehicles even as no person was injured in the accidents. As SPO Kamal Kumar tried to overpower the driver, the latter assaulted him and fled away from the spot leaving the truck.
On checking, it was found that the truck was loaded with 14 bovines. Police rescued all the animals and seized the truck while a case FIR Number 94/2022, under Section 279/336/353/188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered in this connection at Majalta Police Station.
