DODA, Nov 22: Police here today detained a notorious bovine smuggler under stringent Public Safety Act (PSA).
A handout of Doda Police stated that the bovine smuggler Riaz Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohd Khanji alias Khanday, resident of Chattroo, Bhagwah, Doda has been detained under PSA for his involvement in bovine smuggling.
Riaz Ahmed was a notorious criminal and repeated offender of bovine smuggling and on the dossier prepared by District Police Doda, he was detained under PSA by the order of detention issued by DM Doda to prevent him from indulging in activities detrimental to public order and he was lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah.
It is pertinent to mention here that Doda Police has launched a special drive against bovine smugglers and this year 32 cases of bovine smuggling have been registered in which 45 persons were arrested, four vehicles involved in transportation of bovine have been seized and 196 bovine animals rescued.
