Bovine smuggling bid foiled, 11 cattle seized

JAMMU, Nov 23: The police foiled bovine smuggling bid at two different locations in Poonch district and rescued 11 milch animals which were being smuggled towards Kashmir valley.
On a specific input, during the intervening night of Nov 22-23, a special naka was laid by a Police party from Mendhar at Sangala Chowk. During checking, a truck bearing Registration No JK11A- 5169 was signaled to stop.
During checking nine bovine animals were founded loaded in the vehicle. When asked, the vehicle driver failed to produce any valid document/permission for transportation of bovine animals which were found under frail condition.
It was found that the driver concerned indulged in smuggling of bovine animals. On this, a case FIR No. 218/2024 U/S 223/BNS, 3/11 PCA Act was registered at Police Station Mendhar and investigation launched.
Similarly, another naka was established by Mendhar police at Talla Wali Kasi, Ari and during checking a Tata Mobile vehicle, bearing registration No. JK12C -0656 was intercepted in which, two bovine animals were found loaded which were being transported towards Kashmir valley without permission. On this, a case FIR No. 219/2024 was registered at Police Station, Mendhar.
