Bovine smuggling bid foiled, 2 arrested

JAMMU, Sept 19: Keeping hawks eve over smuggling of bovines to Valley in view of the forthcoming Eid festival, Sidhra police arrested two persons and rescued 8 milch animals from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Sidhra police post SI Noor Mohammad along with SHO Nagrota Dalip Singh laid a naka and signaled a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK08A-7907 to stop for checking.
On seeing police team, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police rescued 8 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested two persons on the spot.
The accused have been identified as Bagh Ali, son of Abdul Rashid, a resident of Bypass Nagrota and Barkat Ali, son of Saif Ali of Rajpura Domana.
The accused were smuggling the bovines to Valley in view of the forthcoming Eid festival, but their designs were thwarted by the police.
A case under FIR number 206/15 under Section 188 RPC and 3/5 PCA Act has been registered at Nagrota police station and investigations started.
The arrest was made under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma, SP Rural Rajeev Pandey and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
