Bovine smuggling bid foiled, 2 held

UDHAMPUR, Apr 2: Cops here today rescued 17 bovine animals at Kheri and arrested two smugglers.
Giving details Rajiv Pandey, SSP Udhampur said a police party comprising Head Constable, Mohd Mushtaq; Selection Grade Constable, Nank Chand and Constable, Afaq Ahmed led by Vijay Choudhary, SHO Udhampur under the supervision of Rohit Chadgal DySP Hqrs and Rajinder Singh Katoch Addl SP laid naka and intercepted 17 bovine animals which were being taken on foot by the smugglers separately towards Srinagar without any valid permission.
All the animals were rescued and the accused smugglers Ramzan Ali son of Mohd Yousaf of Kheri, Udhampur and Yasir Hussain Khatana son of Altaf Hussain Khatana of Achhabal, Anantnag were arrested.
In this connection, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation is going on.
