POONCH, July 27: District Police Poonch today foiled a bovine smuggling bid at Betar Ajote and rescued 5 bovine animals.
“A police party of Border Polcie Post Ajote led by ASI Mohd Iqbal while on naka checking at Betar intercepted a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK12-6712 which was being driven by Mohd Safeer son of Mohd Akbar, resident of Khari (Poonch) from Khari towards Surankote,” a Police spokesman said.
He said on checking, 5 bovine animals were found loaded in the vehicle in starvation with utmost cruelty and the driver failed to produce any permission. “Accordingly, a case FIR Number 111/2023 U/S 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act was registered at Police Station Poonch and investigation started,” the spokesman added.
