UDHAMPUR, June 4: Police foiled attempt to smuggle bovine animals and rescued 14 cattle, which were being illegally transported to Kashmir valley, last night.
Police also seized two Mahindra vehicles, in which these bovine were being carried while the smugglers managed to escape taking advantage of darkness.
Reports said that during routine patrolling of the link road approaching from Nathatop towards Patnitop, a Police party from Kud Police Station intercepted two Mahindra vehicles bearing registration number JK02-1532 and JK14A-2756. Noticing police, drivers of the both the vehicles fled taking advantage of darkness. During thorough search, 15 bovine animals were rescued from these two vehicles.
Police have registered a case in this connection and deputed team to nab the absconding smugglers.
