SAMBA, Dec 25: Police in Samba’s Ghagwal area claimed today they have foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing five animals from the clutches of smugglers.
During routine vehicle checking at NHW Naka Tapyal today, a team of Police Station Ghagwal, headed by SHO concerned, intercepted a vehicle, said a police official.
According to him, instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed to flee from the spot.
The vehicle was, however, chased and intercepted a few meters away from the naka point, he said.
On search of the vehicle, he said, five animals crammed inside the vehicle in a cruel manner without valid permission were rescued and later shifted to a safer place.
Accordingly, a case FIR number 180/2024 under sections 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and further investigation started, he added.
