JAMMU, Dec 3: Police in Nagrota sub-division claimed today they have foiled a bovine smuggling bid at Ban Toll Plaza naka and rescued 7 animals from the clutches of the smugglers besides seizing one vehicle.
During naka checking at Ban Toll Plaza, a vehicle (JK02CN-4734) was stopped for checking, said a police official.
On search of the vehicle, he said, seven animals crammed inside it in a cruel manner were freed and the driver Latif Ahmed of Gujjar Basti, Belicharana, was arrested on-the-spot.
He has been booked in case FIR number 318/2024 under section 223 of the BNS and 11 PCA registered at Police Station Nagrota and further investigation taken up, said the police official.
The vehicle used in the commission of the offence has also been seized, he said, adding that further investigation has been taken up.
