Bovine smuggling bids foiled; 79 cattle, 8 vehicles seized

UDHAMPUR, Feb 14: The police apprehended four bovine smugglers, rescued 79 cattles and seized eight vehicles loaded with bovines in Udhampur area last night.
Official sources said that a police team from Majalta foiled two bovine smuggling bids in which 22 bovines were rescued from two vehicles bearing registration number JK03-1729 and JK14G 0065.
The drivers of both the vehicles fled the spot after leaving behind their vehicles on the road.  In this regard two cases vide FIR No.18/2024 and 19/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PC Act were registered in at Majalta Police Station.
In another case a team of Police Post Roundomail rescued 39 bovines from three vehicle bearing registration numbers JK02AH-7975, JK14-6357 and JK01AP-1871 at Roundomail naka point accused persons namely Mohd Sadiq, son of Shah Mohd of RS Pura, Jammu, driver of  JK14- 6357 and Mohd. Khaleem of Jajjar Kotli, driver of  JK01AP-1871, whereas the third driver of vehicle No. JK02AH-7975 fled the spot by taking advantage of heavy traffic on the road. In this regard, three different FIRs under relevant sections of law are registered in PS Udhampur.
A police team from Chenani rescued 14 bovines from two vehicles having registered Nos. JK02CN-0704 and JK14E-9073 and apprehended one bovine smuggler namely Imran Khan, son of Mohd. Hussain of Thard Balli, Udhampur while the second driver of the vehicle fled the spot.  In this regard, case FIR No. 20/2024 and 21/2024  stand registered in PS Chenani.
Similarly, another bovine smuggling bid was foiled in Tikri in which four bovines were rescued and vehicle bearing registration number JK20B- 0041 got seized. Accused driver namely Mohd.Younis, son of Mohd. Bhuttu of Karu, Bagha, Reasi  got arrested. In this regard, case FIR under relevant sections of law stands registered in Rehambal Police Station.
