Bovine smuggling shifts to Mughal Road

RAJOURI, June 5: With the bovine-smugglers operating between Jammu and Srinagar  shifting their activities on Mughal Road, the police seized five trucks loaded with bovine animals and arrested nine persons in this connection last mid night from Dera Ki Gali and Bufliaz area.
A senior police official said that nine bovine smugglers including truck drivers were also arrested and cases registered against them. These trucks were seized between 2 and 2.30 am and were carrying bovine animals from Rajouri area to Kashmir via Mughal Road. One of them managed to escape taking advantage of darkness.
The police parties under the supervision of SDPO Thannamandi, Mujib-ur-Rehman  laid nakas at Manyal Gali and Islam Pura on Thannamandi –Dera Ki Gali and Bufliaz road last night. During nakas, the police seized five trucks. It found total of 25 cattle loaded in the vehicles. The police seized all the animals along with trucks and arrested all the nine occupants.
The vehicles seized are : JK-11A/0985, JK-11A/4198, JK-11A/0290, JK-11A/9320, JK-11A/2441. Those arrested for bovines smuggling have been identified as Aijaz Ahmed (Drv), son of Ghulam Ahmed, resident of Behrot (Thannamandi), Abdul Majid, son of Abdul Ghani of Behrot, Reyaz Ahmed, son of Mohd Shafi , Shakeel Ahmed, son of Abdul Ghani of Behrot, Iftikhar Ahmed, son of Mohd Sadiq, Abdul Majid, son of Abdul Ghani of Behrot, Yasir Hussain, son of Nazir Hussain of Khablan, Maqbool Hussain, son of Abdul Rashid of Bhabla and Mohd Arshed, son of Fazal Hussain, resident of Saaj in Thannamandi.
Meanwhile, a police party led by SHO Sunderbani Devinder  Katoch, intercepted and arrested a bovine smuggler and rescued two cattle from his possession.  He was about to load cattle in a mini truck in the same area. A case was registered against him.
