SAMBA, Jan 7: District police Samba in its drive against the bovine smuggling has successfully foiled attempt to smuggle bovine in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal by rescuing four bovines.
Acting on reliable information regarding transportation of bovines, a police party of PP Rajpura laid a strong vehicle checking naka at Rajpura Chowk and intercepted a Mahindra vehicle having registration number JK08F-9894 coming from Kathua side and moving towards Samba via Border road. The driver on seeing police party abandoned the vehicle and fled away from the spot.
During checking of the vehicle, four cattle were found laden inside it without any permission. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer places. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was seized on spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 02/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
Meanwhile, in continuation to its drive against illegal mining and illegal transportation of construction material, Samba Police seized five vehicles including four dumpers and a Tractor-Trolley across the district, which were being used for illegal transportation of the construction material.
A police team of Police Station, Ghagwal while performing routine vehicle checking at naka NHW, Tapyal intercepted two dumpers, one with registration number JK21A-3472 and another without registration number for illegal transportation of construction material (Sand).
Another police team of Police Post Mansar, while performing patrolling duty in its jurisdiction area, intercepted two tippers with registration numbers JK14E-8358 & JK02AB-9500 at Naka Mansar for illegal transportation of construction material (Sand). The police seized both the tippers.
Similarly, Police team of PP Supwal seized a Tractor without registration number at naka NHW Supwal for illegal transportation of construction material (Sand).
All the five vehicles intercepted by Samba Police in the above mentioned incidents were seized on spot and cases entrusted to Geology & Mining Department, Samba for further action.
