Bovines smuggling bid foiled; 50 cattle rescued, 1 arrested

JAMMU, Aug 19: Jhajjar Kotli Police foiled bovines smuggling bid by rescuing 50 cattle and arresting one person.
As per police sources, a team from Police Station Jhajjar Kotli led by SHO Inspector Vikram Sharma under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Pardeep Kumar during patrolling at Chaddali noticed and intercepted an Alto car bearing Registration Number JK02BW-6591, which was being used as guide to smuggle the bovines to Kashmir.
On seeing the cops, the car driver and one another accompanying the bovines escaped from the spot. However, one person was nabbed on the spot.
The arrested person was identified as Mohd Younis, son of Jamal Din of Kalyanpur Tehsil Marh District Jammu. Fifty bovine animals, which the arrested person was trying to smuggle to Kashmir, were rescued.
A case under FIR Number 205/2022 under Sections 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act and 11/12/13 Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Transportation of Animals on Foot) Rules 2001 has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation started.
