Bovines smuggling bid foiled; 62 cattle rescued, 4 arrested

UDHAMPUR, Apr 16: Tikri and Rehambal police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 62 cattle and arresting 4 smugglers.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Tikri Police Post laid a naka and intercepted three persons carrying flock of bovine animals.
During questioning, the persons failed to give satisfactory reply and police arrested them. The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammad Hussain alias Vishu, son of Sher Ali of Jaganoo Udhampur, Barkat Ali, son of Noor Hussain of Majalta and Hussain, son of Siraj Din of Miran Sahib, Jammu. From their possession, police rescued 30 bovine animals.
Meanwhile, a team from Rehambal Police Station laid a naka at Flata for checking of vehicles.
During checking of vehicles, police party intercepted 32 bovine animals which were taken on foot by the smugglers without any valid permission.
All the bovine animals were rescued and accused smuggler identified as Mohammad Aslam, son of Mohammad Farooq of Gajansoo Marh, Jammu was arrested.
Cases under relevant sections have been registered at Police Station Rehambal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Rehambal Inspector Ajay Bhat and assisted by Incharge Tikri Police Post SI Balram Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Udhampur Rohit Chadgal, Additional SP Udhampur Rajinder Singh Katoch and SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey.
