Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 101 cattle rescued, 9 arrested

JAMMU, May 12: Satwari, Jhajjar Kotli, Nagrota and Batote Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 101 cattle and arresting 9 persons.
As per police sources, teams from Police Station Satwari led by SHO Inspector Nishant Gupta, Police Station Jhajjar Kotli headed by SHO Inspector Rajesh Khajuria and Police Station Nagrota led by SHO Inspector Mohammad Shoket laid check points in their areas and intercepted seven vehicles.
During checking, police teams rescued 79 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested seven cattle smugglers.
The arrested persons were identified as Abdul Latif, son of Abdulla Dedar of Kulgam, at present Rohi Morh Gadigarh, Irshad Ahmad Chouhan, son of Mohammad Yaqoob of Razkang, Larnoo, District Anantnag, Asgar Ahmed, son of Khushal Ahmad of Sangar, District Anantnag, Nissar Ahmed Khan, son of Ghulam Qadar Khan of Rakh Brah Shangus District Anantnag, Rafiq Mohammad, son of Ghulam Mohammad Najar of Ijara District Baramulla, Bikram Singh, son of Bopinder Singh of Chak Kansipura District Baramulla and Mohammad Maroof, son of Mohammad Mussa of Kansi Patta District Reasi.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Batote led by SHO Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao during checking intercepted two trucks bearing registration numbers JK02AF-7527 and JK02AA-0311.
During checking, police team rescued 22 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested two persons, who were identified as Sharafat Ali, son of Mohammad Khalid of Village Mohni District Kathua and Yasir Ali, son of Zahir Khatana of Dami Tehsil Dhansal District Jammu.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Satwari, Jhajjar Kotli, Nagrota and Batote Police Stations and investigation started.
