Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 107 cattle rescued, 8 arrested

JAMMU, Apr 20: Nagrota and Dinga Amb Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 107 cattle and arresting 8 persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Station Nagrota laid a naka near Ban Toll Plaza and intercepted Srinagar bound eight vehicles bearing registration numbers JK19-8067, JK08A-6267, JK03D-0362, JK14-9382, JK13E-6911, JK19-5790, JK03H-4621 and JK02CR-6093.
During checking, police team rescued 94 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested eight persons, who were identified as Mohammad Sardar, son of Guga Hussain of Nai Basti District Reasi, Basharat Ahmed, son of Mohammad Iqbal of Shergund District Anantnag, Mohammad Iqbal, son of Abdul Gani of Khanpur Nagrota, Sharafat Ali, son of Mohammad Tahir of Kacha Wan Kokarnag District Anantnag, Mohammad Hussain, son of Mohammad Rafiq of Achiwal Hillar District Anantnag, Zahid Ahmed, son of Bashir Ahmed of Qazigund District Kulgam, Aqib Ahmed Mir, son of Mushtaq Ahmed of District Ramban and Wasim Sajad, son of Nazir Ahmed of Ward Number 7 District Kathua.
Cases under FIR Numbers 145/2021, 146/2021, 147/2021, 148/2021, 149/2021, 150/2021, 151/2021 and 152/2021 under Sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota Mohammad Showket foiled the bovines smuggling bids and arrested the accused under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
Meanwhile, a team led by Incharge Police Post Dinga Amb during patrolling noticed the movement of bovines on foot by some persons via Dyalachak Road towards Udhampur and they were directed to stop.
On seeing police party from a distance, the persons taking advantage of the darkness fled away from the spot and left abandoned more than one dozen bovines.
In consequence, 13 bovines were rescued which were presumably being taken without a legal permission towards valley.
A case under FIR Number 55/2021 under Sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Hiranagar and investigation has been started.
