Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 154 cattle rescued, 14 arrested

JAMMU, May 14: Police foiled bovine smuggling bids by rescuing 154 cattle and nabbing 14 smugglers.
As per police sources, a team from Jhajjar Kotli police station laid a naka and intercepted two trucks.
During checking, police rescued 31 bovine animals and arrested four persons, who have been identified as Mohammad Naseem of Reasi, Jevan Massi of Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmed of Udhampur and Arshid Ali of Kheri Bishnah.
In another incident, a team from Nagrota police station laid a naka near Ban Toll Plaza and intercepted three trucks.
Police rescued 49 bovine animals and arrested seven persons, who have been identified as Javed Ahmed of Kokernag, Mohammad Khalid of Miran Sahib, Shah Nawaz of Kokernag, Raiz Ahmed of Qazigund, Ali Mohammad of Verinag, Muneer Ahmed of Ramban and Mohammad Abass of Banihal.
Meanwhile, Nagrota police during checking at TCP rescued 30 bovine animals from a truck. The truck driver identified as Farooq Ahmed, son of Gulam Hussain of Batote, District Ramban was arrested.
Police team led by SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Ravinder Singh and SHO Nagrota Inspector Karan Chalotra made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma and SP Rural Arun Gupta.
Meanwhile, Reasi police rescued 12 bovine animals and arrested three persons, who have been identified as Mohammad Younis, Mohammad Mansha and Suleman, all residents of Kanjali-Patta, district Reasi.
Udhampur police rescued 24 bovine animals, while the accused managed to escape. Rajouri police also rescued 8 bovine animals and arrested a person.
Cases under relevant Sections stands registered against the accused at concerned police stations.
