JAMMU, Mar 30: Gharota, Kanachack, Manwal and Chenani police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 25 cattle and arresting 5 persons.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Gharota Police Station laid a naka and intercepted three persons carrying flock of bovine animals.
During questioning, the persons failed to give satisfactory reply and police arrested them. Five cattle were rescued from their possession.
The arrested persons have been identified as Rashid and Mohammad Majeed of Nagrota and Mohammad Akhter, a resident of Bhalwal Seri.
Meanwhile, a team from Gajansoo Border Police Post rescued 8 bovine animals and arrested one person, who has been identified as Mohammad Bashir, son of Chattu of Rapar Marh.
However, a team from Manwal Police Post also foiled bovines smuggling bid by rescuing 4 cattle.
Chenani police also rescued 8 bovine animals and arrested one person, who has been identified as Mohammad Ashraf, son of Juma, a resident of Gole Mela, District Udhampur. The accused was carrying the bovine animals in Mahindra load carrier, which has also been seized by the cops.
Cases under relevant Sections at Gharota, Kanachack, Jhajjar Kotli and Chenani Police Stations and investigation started.
