Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 50 cattle rescued, 5 arrested

JAMMU, Mar 18: Manwal, Pouni Chak and Jourian police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 50 cattle and arresting 5 cattle smugglers.
As per police sources, police teams from Manwal, Pouni Chak and Jourian Police Posts intercepted four vehicles bearing registration numbers JK02CC-7043, CG04MP-3354, JK02BK-5503 and JK02CB-6705.
During checking, police teams rescued 50 bovine animals from these vehicles and arrested five cattle smugglers.
The arrested persons were identified as Roshan Lal, son of Ramesh Pal of Pathankot Punjab, Liaquat Ali, son of Bashir Ahmed of Upper Thanowa District Udhampur, Harpal Singh, son of Avtar Singh of Saharanpur Uttar Pradesh, Mohammad Taj, son of Mohammad Shafi of Tehsil Sunderbani District Rajouri and Zaheer Abaas, son of Mohammad Hussain of Plangad District Rajouri.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered in concerned police stations and investigation started.
The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (SP) Rural Jammu Sanjay Sharma.
