JAMMU, June 17: Police foiled bovine smuggling bids by rescuing 52 cattle and arresting 6 smugglers.
As per police sources, on specific information, a joint team from Nagrota Police Station and Sidhra Police Post laid nakas and intercepted two vehicles bearing Registration numbers JK03E-3305 and JK02BM-6460.
During checking, police team rescued 15 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested two persons, who were identified as Mubarak Hussain, son of Mushtaq Hussan and Arif Ahmed, son of Farooq Ahmed, both residents of Kokernag District Anantnag.
Cases under FIR Numbers 243/2020 and 244/2020 under relevant Sections of law have been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
Police team headed by SHO Nagrota Inspector Mohammad Shoket and assisted by Incharge Police Post Sidhra SI Ayoub Khan made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma.
Meanwhile, during checking, police party from Police Station Udhampur led by SHO Inspector Vijay Choudhary intercepted 4 vehicles bearing registration numbers JK02AS-1486, JK02AQ-3146, JK02AX-5984 and JK02CL-1144.
During search of vehicles, 37 bovine animals were rescued and four cattle smugglers identified as Liaqat Ali, son of Mohammad Latief of Anantnag, Muneer Ahmed, son of Mohammad Hanief of Anantnag, Mohammad Mureed, son of Abdul Gani of Patnitop, Ramban and Manshad Ahmed, son of Mohammad Zaleel of Anantnag were arrested on spot.
In this connection, cases under relevant section of law have been registered at Police Station Udhampur and investigation initiated.
