JAMMU, Sept 19: Ramban, Ghagwal and Udhampur police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 61 cattle and arresting 6 persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Ramban Police Station laid a naka near Shan Palace and intercepted two Tata Mobiles and a truck.
During checking, police rescued 450 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested four persons, who have been identified as Mohammad Rashid, son of Mohammad Shafi of Jhajjer Kotli Jammu, Mohammad Irfan, son of Noor Hussain of Chanderkote, Mohammad Rakha, son of Saif Ali of Rajpora Akhnoor Jammu and Shakur Ahmed, son of Mohammad Shafi of Champa Batote.
Police team led by SHO Ramban Inspector Vijay Kotwal made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Asgar Malik, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
Meanwhile, a team from Ghagwal Police Station led by SHO SI Bansi Lal under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Samban Deepak Digra and SSP Samba Dr Koshal Sharma rescued 2 bovine animals from a Tata Safari vehicle and arrested the driver.
The arrested person has been identified as Bashir, son of Dil Sher Khan, a resident of Chak Salarian, Tehsil Vijaypur, District Samba.
In another similar incident, a team from Udhampur Police Station led by SHO Inspector Sanjeev Chib and assisted by SgCt Romesh Singh, SPO Raj Kumar, SPO Manohar Lal and SPO Jagdish Singh under the supervision of Zahid Saif Wani DySP Headquarters Udhampur laid naka at Jakhani for checking of vehicles.
During checking, police rescued 14 bovine animals from a Srinagar bound truck and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Balbir Singh alias Bali, son of Kartar Singh of Chatha Pind, Satwari District Jammu.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Ramban, Ghagwal and Udhampur Police Stations and further investigations into the cases are going on.
