JAMMU, May 14: Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 65 cattle and arresting six smugglers.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Ramban Police Station laid a naka and intercepted two trucks bearing registration number JK02AQ-3147 and JK18A-5501.
During checking, police team rescued 57 bovine animals from the trucks and arrested two persons, who were identified as Zakir Hussain, son of Ahmed Ali of Khanpura Nagrota District Jammu and Bilal Ahmed, son of Latief Ahmed of Shangus District Anantnag.
Cases under FIR Numbers 64/2020 and 65/2020 under sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from check post Nadaal near Manwal led by HC Mohinder Singh and assisted by SPO Vishal Sharma and SPO Sohan Singh under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma arrested two persons carrying four bovine animals on foot with proper permission from the concerned authorities.
The arrested persons were identified as Mohd Shoket, son of Abdul Hamid of Mananu District Samba and Kali, wife of Parvez Ahmed of Mananu Palth District Samba.
However, during patrolling, a team from Police Post Manwal led by SgCt Suresh Kumar and assisted by Constable Ashwani Kumar and Constable Puran under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal arrested two persons carrying four bovine animals towards Udhampur with permission from the concerned authorities.
The arrested persons were identified as Haroon, son of Abdul Aziz of Palth Tehsil District Samba and Guddi, wife of Shabir of Palth District Samba.
Cases under FIR Numbers 88/2020 and 89/2020 under sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act have been registered at Jhajjar Kotli Police Station and investigation started.
