Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 71 cattle rescued, 3 arrested

RAMBAN/DODA, July 30: Batote and Dessa police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 71 cattle and arresting three persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Batote Police Station laid a naka at Nashri and intercepted a Srinagar bound truck bearing registration number JK02U-2969.
During checking, police rescued 16 cattle from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Sham Lal, son of Sain Dass, a resident of Gole Gujaral, District Jammu.
Police team led by SHO Batote Nazir Ahmed made the arrest under supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Asgar Malik and SSP Ramban Mohan Lal.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Dessa laid a naka at Hingin Gali and intercepted four persons carrying flock of bovine animals.
During the questioning, the persons failed to give satisfactory reply and police arrested two persons, while two of their associates managed to escape.
The arrested persons have been identified as Gulzar Ahmed, son of Bashir Ahmed of Bartung District Ramban and Javed Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Dhandal.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Police Station Dessa and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Dessa Inspector Inderpal Singh made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Doda Iftkhar Ahmed, SP Operations RP Singh and SSP Doda Mohammad Shabir.
