Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 74 cattle rescued, 11 arrested

JAMMU, Jan 9: Nagrota police foiled bovines smuggling bid by rescuing 74 cattle and arresting 11 smugglers.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Nagrota Police Station laid nakas at different places and intercepted 10 vehicles including four trucks, 4 Tata Mobiles and 2 load carriers.
During checking, police rescued 74 bovine animals from the vehicles and seized them.
Police team also arrested 11 smugglers, who have been identified as Chand Khan, son of Gandhu Khan and Imran Khan, son of Irfan Khan, both residents of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Mohammad Ishfaq, son of Abdul Rashid of District Udhampur, Mohammad Ashiq, son of Mohammad Sadiq of District Ramban, Mohammad Nazir, son of Ghulam Ali of RS Pura Jammu, Karnail Singh, son of Yashpal Singh of Laswara Bishnah, Imtiaz Ahmed, son of Mushtaq Ahmed of Sopore, Junaid Ali, son of Ghulab Din and Mohammad Abid, son of Ghulam Ali, both residents of District Ramban, Gurdeep Singh, son of Maan Singh of Greater Kunjwani Jammu and Yasir Ahmed, son of Manzoor Ahmed of District Anantnag.
Cases under FIR Numbers 17/19, 20/19, 21/19, 22/19, 23/19 and 24/19 under relevant sections have been registered at Nagrota Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota Inspector Deepak Pathania made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma, SP Rural Jammu Dushyant Sharma and SSP Jammu Tejinder Singh.
