Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 77 cattle rescued, 9 arrested

UDHAMPUR, Dec 11: Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 77 cattle and arresting 9 smugglers.
As per police sources, on specific information, a joint team from Police Station Rehmbal and Police Post Tikri laid nakas and intercepted four trucks bearing registration numbers JK22A-4311, JK02AR-8377, HR55X-8549 and JK02AL-1607.
During checking, police team rescued 77 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested 9 smugglers, who were identified as Javed Ahmed Sohail, son of Gul Mohammad of Banihal, Mohammad Rafiq, son of Ghulam Rasool of Doda, Mohammad Majid, son of Roshan Din of Bali Nallah Udhampur, Abdul Rehman, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Udhampur, Nazir Ahmed, son of Lal Hussain of Bali Nallah Udhampur, Mohammad Irshad, son of Mohammad Liaqat of Saharanpir UP, Abdul Haroom, son of Mumtaz Khan of Poonch, Mohammad Hanief, son of Manzoor Alai of Bali Nallah and Mohammad Safir, son of Mohammad Latief of Nowshera.
Four cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Police Station Rehmbal and investigation started.
