JAMMU, Feb 26: Nagrota police foiled bovines smuggling bids by nabbing eight persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Nagrota police station and intercepted three trucks bearing registration numbers JK13C-8483, JK22-9002 and JK02R-1763 near Ban toll plaza on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
During checking, police rescued 35 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested eight persons.
The accused have been identified as Roof Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din of Shopian, Naveed Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohammad Din of Pulwama, Javed Ahmed Peer, son of Peer Nizam Din of Kokernag, Mansoor Ahmed, son of Abdul Rehman, Riaz Ahmed, son of Abdul Gani, both residents of Haal Magalpora, Faiz Ahmed Bhat, son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat of Qazigund, Amir Ahmed Mir, son of Bahar Ahmed Mir of Banihal and Javed Ahmed, son of Abdul Jalil of Anantnag.
Cases under FIR Numbers 51/16 and 52/16 have been registered at Nagrota police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota police station Inspector Karan Chalotra made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma, SP Rural Rajiv Pandey and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
