RAMBAN, May 9: Police busted a bovines smuggling racket with the arrest of two persons including kingpin and rescued 265 cattle.
As per police spokesman, a team from Police Station Chanderkote led by SHO Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AS-8211.
During checking, police team rescued bovine animals from the truck and arrested two persons including kingpin of bovines smuggling racket.
The arrested persons were identified as Nazakat Khatana (kingpin), son of Mohammad Sharif Khatana of Belicharana District Jammu and Mohammad Saleem, son of Mohammad Yousaf of Parnote District Ramban.
During preliminary investigation, it has surfaced that Nazakat Khatana has assured the bovine smugglers to provide a safe passage from all check points on National Highway.
It is also pertinent to mention here that Ramban Police seized all the 13 vehicles carrying around 265 bovines at different nakas after arresting the said accused.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Chanderkote, Ramban and Batote Police Stations and investigation started.
