KATHUA, July 5: A boy drowned in Ravi river, while he was going to participate in a fair in village Panjpir in Madhavpur area of Punjab this morning.
The boy was identified as Vishal, 10, son of Rajinder of Ward No 11 Kathua. Police said the boy along with his family members had gone to see the fair across the river Ravi and while crossing the river he fell into a deep ditch in the middle of the river and was washed away by the flow of water. The people tried to trace the boy but could not find any clue of him.
The Kathua police has registered a case in this regard. Meanwhile, two persons namely Tarseem Lal, 45, son of Anant Ram of Jagatpur Kathua and Santosh Kumar, 50, son of Raldoo Ram of Basohli who too had gone to see the Panjpir Mela did not return by late this evening and they too are feared to have drowned in the river. The Lakhanpur police have registered a case in this regard.
