Boy drowns in river, man hurt in accident

RAJOURI, Aug 19: A 15-year old boy studying in local ‘Madarasa’ was drowned in Sukhi Tawi river here while a villager was critically injured after being hit by a vehicle on highway near Muradpur.
A police spokesman said that minor Abbas Ali, son of Mohd Mahroof, resident of Bagla village near Rajouri had gone to the nearby Tawi river for taking bath at around 9.30 am today. He was studying in a local Islamic school. While bathing, the boy slipped into deep water and was drowned.
Later, police and local divers fished out the body and removed it to the hospital for performing legal formalities.
Meanwhile, one Mohd Muneer , son of Aqab Hussain, resident of Reasi was seriously injured after he was hit by a vehicle on Jammu-Rajouri highway near Muradpur this afternoon. The mishap took place when a bus and Tempo traveller averted head on collision at the sharp curve. Muneer was walking along the road side. One of the vehicles ran over the villager and crushed his both the legs.
The injured was rushed to Rajouri hospital and then referred to GMC Hospital, Jammu. Police has taken cognizance of the matter.
