KATHUA, Dec 30: A fourth standard student drowned in a pond while a youth was killed in road accident in two separate incidents in Kathua district today.
As per reports a fourth standard student identified as Naresh Kumar, son of Madan Lal of village Kha in Billawar tehsil of Kathua district drowned in a pond after he went to take a bath there.
Reports said the boy had gone towards the jungle to collect fire wood with his parents and in the meantime he got separated from them and went to take a bath in a village pond. When his parents after collecting the firewood did not see him at their residence, they searched him in the village.
Later his mother went to pond and tried to search him there after jumping in the water and fished out his dead body from there. The mishap took place under the jurisdiction of Ramkote Police Post. The matter was brought into the notice of the police also.
In another incident a biker identified as Suram, son of Subash of Pali Kathua died on spot after his two -wheeler skidded off the road in the village.
He was shifted to Kathua Hospital by locals for postmortem. The dead body will be handed over by police to the family after postmortem. The Kathua police has registered a case under Section 279/304 RPC in this regard.
