RAJOURI, Sept 16: A youth has been arrested for the rape of a minor girl in Sunderbani area of Rajouri district.
A police spokesman said that the incident took place last evening at around 5.30 pm at village Parat, in Sunderbani on Sunday. The accused, 16-year-old Amit Kumar, son of Ramesh Lal, resident of Parat caught hold of 9-year-old girl belonging to the other community and committed rape on her when she was grazing cattle in the nearby fields. The boy then escaped giving threats to the girl not to open her mouth.
The victim went home and narrated the matter to her mother. The parents of the girl then moved to the Sunderbani Police Station and lodged an FIR No. 79/ 2019 u/s 376 RPC against the accused. The police sent the girl for Medical examination to SDH Sunderbani and then handed over to the parents. The police today arrested the accused from a hideout. Further investigation was in progress.
