Boy killed, 2 hurt in blast

JAMMU, Dec 25: A teen-ager was killed and two others were injured in an accidental grenade blast at University Morh in Rajouri town this afternoon.
Police said three boys, who were playing, found an explosive object near a ‘Bawli’ at University Morh in Rajouri town at 3.10 pm today.
The device exploded when one of the boys Gaurav Singh, 12, son of Jagdish Raj, a resident of Dandi Dhar, Rajouri, fiddled with it.
While Gaurav was killed on spot, two other boys were injured. They have been identified as Rohit Singh, 11, son of Balbir Singh and Kapil Singh, 10, son of Kikar Singh, both residents of Dandi Dhar.
Police officers rushed to the spot and shifted the victims to District Hospital, Rajouri, where Gaurav was declared as dead. Two injured boys have been admitted in the hospital. They were responding to the treatment and their condition was stated to be stable.
Police said they were trying to ascertain as to how a grenade reached the ‘Bawli’.
Investigations have been taken up in the case, they said, adding that splinters of the explosive device have been seized and sent for Forensic examination.
