Boy murdered; IRP SPO killed in road mishap

KATHUA, Jan 20: A teenager was murdered by some unscrupulous elements in village Pandrad under the jurisdiction of Kathua Police Station today.
The deceased has been identified as Sahil Kumar, 14, son of Mohan Lal of village Pandrad in Kathua tehsil. His body was found in bushes near his house this morning by police and villagers who had launched a manhunt to locate the boy who had gone missing since yesterday.
The family members of the deceased had filed a missing report about the boy in Kathua Police Station yesterday and the police deputed the team to search him. The police team and some villagers this morning found his dead body in bushes in the village near his house. The police took the body into its custody and got its autopsy conducted at District Hospital Kathua after which it was handed over to family members for last rites.
SHO Kathua, Sandeep Chib said that police suspects it a murder case as the boy had been inflicted a head injury. He said the Kathua Police has registered a case under Section 302 IPC and started investigations. Four youth have been rounded up in this regard. They have been put to sustained questioning by the police, SHO added.
Meanwhile, an IRP SPO posted at Jammu was killed in a road accident at DPL Kathua late last night. He has been identified as Arun Dev Singh, son of Balbir Singh of Ward 3 Kathua. Police said that the Jawan who was resident of Ward 3 Kathua had come to his house yesterday from Jammu where he was posted and he had gone to DPL area to meet some of his friends.
As he was returning towards his house late night yesterday he was hit by a tractor and was shifted to District Hospital Kathua by police where he succumbed to his injuries. His body was handed over to family members this afternoon for last rites by police after autopsy and completion of other formalities. Kathua Police has registered a case under relevant sections of the law in this regard.
