JAMMU, Jan 28: BPCL-run petrol pumps across Jammu and Kashmir are likely to start turning dry from tomorrow as Jammu and Kashmir Tank Owners Association has refused to lift petrol and diesel on the ground that an amended tender issued by the Corporation was not acceptable to them.
As per the reports, the BPCL-run oil depots in Jammu and Kashmir are closed for last two days due to strike by the Tanker Association.
“Around 180 petrol pumps in Jammu and Kashmir are likely to go dry for indefinite period as strike by the Tanker Association is expected to continue causing huge inconvenience to the public at large,” they said.
Transport tender called by the BPCL is stated to be the reason behind the strike.
Reports said the BPCL officials have brought issue to the notice of the Government which has assured all help to the Company.
“The Tank Owners Association is neither lifting the supplies nor is it allowing others to lift. While some pumps have already gone dry, others will start turning dry from tomorrow,” the reports said.
The Tanker Association has stated that the amended tender issued by the BPCL on January 18 hasn’t been amended as per the promise made by the Corporation in the meeting held with them.
As per officials, some vested interests are trying to hamper operations of the company and if not controlled it may lead to law & order problem.
