JAMMU, Feb 4: Brahman Mahamandal Kashmir and representatives of various organizations today appealed the Kashmiri Pandits to take full spiritual advantage of the auspicious Har Ratri as mentioned in Dharma Shastras and perform the holy Puja on February 17 as Triodashi starts at 11-38 pm on that day which is much before the entry of midnight.
At a press conference here, today, president Brahman Maha Mandal, Kashmir, U K Handoo, Sanjay Raina a religious scholar, Kundan La secretary, Mata Khirbhawani Yatra Welfare Society, Rohit Kaul , president, Shree Ardh Ratree Maha Ragneya Sewa Sanstha, Pinto Ji, president, Global Solace, B L Jalali, president, Rainawari KP Action Committee, Surinder Dhar, Executive Member, Shiv Shakti Mandir Sanstha, Pamposh Colony, Janipur, M K Yogi, president Kashmiri Migrant Democratic Front, Anil Bhan, president, Hands for Humanity, Ranjit Gorkha, president, Shree Shree Sharika Chakrashwari Sanstha, Hari Parbhat, Srinagar and Kiran Wattal, convener, Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj said that all the scriptures unequivocally and clearly say that Har Ratri (Hearath) festival and Puja related to it is to be strictly observed on Phagun Krishan Triodashi and not on Chutradashi (Shivratri). They said it is only the Nirnay of Triodashi which is to be calculated as per the local almanac.
They said Har Ratri Nirnay which has been formulated in 1957 after a dharma Sansad by a galaxy of scholars on the issue of observance of Har Ratri (Hearath) the main and important festival of Kashmiri Pandits. This Dharam Sansad with their hard work and foresight have been able to evolve a comprehensive Tantra Shastra namely Har Ratri Nirnay to clear all ambiguities related to this sacred festival of Hearath.
They said this document is giving unambiguous and clear directions for time to time changing astrological and almanac scenario/conditions and the way as how to calculate Triodashi and arrive at a correct Nirnay of it.
