JAMMU, Jan 11: Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha today urged Governor, Satya Pal Malik to extend the provisions of the recently passed bill by Parliament regarding 10 percent reservations of economically backward upper caste communities to the State of Jammu and Kashmir also.
Addressing a meeting of the Sabha activist, here today, president of the Sabha, Ved Prakash Sharma welcomed the decision but expressed concerned over non fulfillment of posts and extending benefits. “Now immediate task is to extend the provisions of the bill to J&K and start aggressive recruitment drive to enable the poor among the upper class to avail the benefits of this bill”.
Sharma opined that elections to State Legislative should not be held less than two years from now as many of the developmental projects are in their various stages of execution and the new administration in all probability may not think of executing the same.
Stressing on the need to constitute Minority Commission in the State, Sharma conveyed that minorities in the State have heavily suffered over the last three decades. He also expressed deep concern over the non introduction of Jammu Prayag Raj special train, the demand of which have been put forth from time to time to authorities both at Centre and State level. “Now since the upcoming Ardh Kumbh Mela is beginning from 15th of January 2019, which has tremendous significance from religious and spiritual point of view, it becomes imperative that such service for pilgrimage is ensured,” he demanded.
Speaking on the occasion, Advocate P C Sharma said that all stakeholders including the Governments should not delay the construction of Ram Mandir at Sri Ram Janam Bhoomi Ayodhya.
Vice president Virendar Mohan Magotra, Satyanand Sharma, Advocate Chander Mohan Sharma, Subash Shastri, Jagan Nath Sharma, Shiv Ram Sharma, Romesh Sharma, Sat Pal Sharma, Shiv Ram Sharma, Satpal Khajuria, Dr Som Dutt Magotra, Raman Sharma, K L Sharma, Prem Balotra, Shanti Saroop Baru, Rajesh Bargotra, M L Sharma, Girdhari Lal, S C D Sharma were also present on the occasion.
Brahman Sabha also announced to celebrate the Jayanti of first Paramveer Chakar Vijayta Shaheed Som Nath Sharma on 31st January 2019 as a Sankalap Diwas with fervor and enthusiasm.
