JAMMU, Oct 6: Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha today appealed the Railway Minister Piyush Goel to facilitate the running of special train on Jammu-Allahabad link to accommodate huge number of pilgrims from Jammu & Kashmir in the upcoming religious congregation of Ardh Kumbh Mela beginning at Allahabad from January 14 to February 13, 2019.
“Lakhs of devotees from Jammu & Kashmir State who regard participation in the Kumbh Mela as once in the lifetime opportunity find it very difficult to reach the hallowed destination at the Kumbh which has the most religious significance due to lack of direct train,” said Ved Parkash Sharma, president of the Sabha, while addressing a meeting of the Sabha.
Sharma further said that a special train should be made to run four times a week between Allahabad (Prayag) and Jammu so that pilgrims are not put to trouble as has happened on the earlier such occasion. Sharma added that Governor Satya Pal Malik has also been approached to use his good offices for arranging the same in view of its high spiritual religious significance.
Stressing on the need to manage the huge pilgrim traffic, Sharma further said that bookings for the auspicious visit in such special trains may be made in advance and the train in all probability may be named as “Ardhakumbh Mela Train”.
Sharma also requested Government to recommend to the Centre for immediate setting up of Minority Commission in J&K so that a long pending demand of minorities is fulfilled.
Among others who were also present on the occasion include VN Magotra, Satya Nand Sharma, Advocate PC Sharma, Subash Shastri, Jagan Nath Sharma, Ramesh Sharma, Gurdas Sharma, Dr Som Nath Magotra, Sat Pal Sharma, Sat Pal Khajuria and Nanak Chand Sharma.
