MATHURA, Dec 29:
With growing popularity of holy places among New Year revellers, security has been tightened at the pious land of Braj Bhoomi as its all set to welcome several lakh pilgrims and tourists on New Year eve.
Though none of the renowned temples are organising any special programmes, scores of pilgrims will be flocking to the region to get divine blessings and to seek salvation.
“Since the sins of a wrong doer are wiped out if he sincerely pays obeisance to deity of a temple, many pilgrims come here for want of salvation,” priest Umashakti Peethadheeshwar Ramdevanand Saraswati said.
Govardhan and Vrindavan are some of the preferred destinations for international tourists visiting the land associated with Lord Krishna.
“Several lakh people perform Govardhan Parikrama on the eve of New year. The disciples of saint Guru Sharnanand, chanting religious songs also perform Govardhan Parikrama on the eve of New Year,” said Mathura Prasad Kaushik, priest of Danghati Temple, Govardhan.
“Chhappan Bhog at Danghati Temple on the first day of New Year would be another attraction for the devotees,” he added.
Security arrangements have also been tightened to ensure a safe and peaceful atmosphere. (PTI)
