RAMBAN, Aug 17: A brave student was awarded posthumously by the Minister of Public Health Engineering Department, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary during the 70th Independence Day function in Ramban on August 15.
The boy, Rakesh Kumar (14), a class 8th student of Government Middle School, Ladhwal, Batote lost his life while saving Shalvi Devi,5 and Payal Devi,13 of the same school when they got trapped in a flooded stream following the cloud burst on May 12 this year. His father, Satish received the award.
