JAMMU:
After a brief lull, Pakistan yet again violated the ceasefire by firing small arms in Samba Sector of Jammu region.
“Pakistani Rangers late this evening fired 4 to 5 rounds at forward Regal Border Outpost in Samba Sector,” an official here said.
He said the BSF troops equally responded to the fire with similar calibre arms, adding that no injury of casualty was reported in exchange of fire.
Around 8,000 people displaced by firing and mortar shelling by Pakistan are still waiting in camps set up in Kathua and Samba districts as no incident of ceasefire violation by Pak was reported earlier in the past 24 hours.
“Nearly 11,000 people have so far migrated from the border villages and of them, 8000 have taken shelter in camps set up by the Government in safer areas in Kathua and Samba districts,” an official said.
“There was no firing and shelling from across the border since last night and border is calm,” he added. Pakistan yesterday fired mortar shells and gunshots at over 60 villages and scores of forward posts in Kathua and Samba in continuing ceasefire violations over which it has refused to take protest notes from the Indian side.
