JAMMU, May 24: Brig Anil Gupta, spokesperson of BJP has taken a strong exception to the statement of NC spokesperson that Sheikh Abdullah will continue to rule the hearts of the people of J&K.
Questioning as to who has authorised him to make such a statement on behalf of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Brig Gupta said “hold an opinion poll among the people of Jammu and Ladakh and you will get the true answer.”
Sheikh Abdullah was instrumental in suppressing the people of Jammu and Ladakh as well as for willful destruction of Dogra Heritage and identity. As far as Ladakh is concerned, it figured no where in Sheikh Abdullah’s perception of Jammu and Kashmir. He was also responsible for denying the people of Jammu and Ladakh the deserved representation in the State Assembly, which has been rectified now by the award of the Delimitation Commission. The treacherous method through which he dethroned the Maharaja and then planned his exile with support of Pandit Nehru. His agrarian reforms were aimed at snatching the landed properties of the Dogras since the orchards were kept out of its purview.
Even his title Sher-i-Kashmir smacks of regionalism. JKP is the police of the entire Jammu and Kashmir and hence naming it’s medals of meritorious service/gallantry after an individual representing one region only was a mistake and has been justifiably rectified. Rather than welcoming the decision those who are trying to oppose it suffer from the same tunnel vision which the Sheikh had, asserted Brig Gupta.
