NEW DELHI, Jan 29:
The Brigade of Guards Regiment and Sikh Regiment were today jointly adjudged the best marching contingents in this year’s Republic Day parade under the Services category while CISF won the coveted award in the paramilitary and auxiliary segment.
In the tableaux category, the first position has gone to Maharashtra tableau, which depicted “Wari to Pandharpur” (the pilgrimage to Pandharpur). A total 25 tableaux, including nine from Union ministries and departments, had taken part in the parade.
While Jharkhand tableau on “Maluti Temples” was adjudged the second best, the third position has been won by the Karnataka tableau on famous Channapatna Toys, an official statement said.
While, in the competitive category of school children items, the “Daang Dance” of Gujarat presented by West Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur (Rajasthan) has been adjudged the best.
A Consolation Prize was awarded to South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur (Maharashtra) for their portrayal of “Lezim Dance” of Maharashtra.
The tableau presented by CPWD giving a majestic floral depiction of “Gaumukh” also has been selected for a Special Prize by the jury.
As in previous years, this year also the Ministry of Defence had appointed three panels of judges for assessing the marching contingents from three Services, para-military Forces and tableaux.
All these winning contingents, tableaux and schools will be awarded trophies and prizes by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar later in separate functions organised by the Defence Ministry. (PTI)
