JAMMU, Dec 14: In an effort to include Jammu’s historic temples on the country’s tourism map, President Shri Kailakh Jyotish Avim Vedic Sansthan Trust Mahant Rohit Shastri led delegation met with Sunaina Sharma Mehta, Joint Director of Tourism Jammu and presented a resolution.
According to Mahant Rohit Shastri, Jammu is known as the “city of temples” and is visited by a large number of tourists each year who come for pilgrimage to the sacred shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi. After visiting the shrine, the tourists immediately travel to Kashmir to take in the natural beauty of the region before departing the Union Territory.
The delegation demanded that the Jammu region have several ancient temples such as Shri Bawa Kilakh Dev, Shri Parshuram temple Akhnoor, Showa Mata temple and several other ancient temples of Jammu should be considered on the tourist map of India.
He emphasized further that if these locations are included on the tourist map of Jammu and Kashmir, many pilgrims will likely visit these significant historical shrines and temples, increasing the likelihood that tourism will grow and providing jobs for the unemployed youth of the areas.
Additionally, it will aid in the development of shrines and temples. Promoting and introducing these locations to pilgrims through the listing of these locations on tourist maps will revitalize the once-ancient, vanished histories of these temples and restore their historical significance, they said. Trust members Prabodh Sharma, Jagdev Singh Chib, Suman Lal Shastri,Vannet ,Uttam Chand Sharma were also present.
