Bring back 40,000 J&K people stranded outside: Saroori

JAMMU, Apr 29: Vice president of J&K Congress Party and former minister, Ghulam Mohammed Saroori has appealed Government to bring back stranded 40,000 people from different states across the country.
“These people mostly labourers are stuck in the places across the country where they were working,” said Saroori, while appreciating Government for bringing back 369 students from Kota in Rajasthan.
Saroori said that J&K Government under Lt Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu took good initiative and brought back stranded students from Rajasthan. “Similar, efforts are needed for the people who are from Jammu and Kashmir, but they are stranded without food and monitory help in different states,” he said, expressing concern over the plight of the stranded people.
“These people had gone to earn bread and butter for their families,” Saroori said adding that “they work in factories and other fields. They are from poor background. Hence, it is paramount duty of the Union Territory Government to ensure their safe return as early as possible.”
Saroori said that people from Chenab belt, Reasi, and other districts have made desperate calls to their families and the village heads explaining their condition. “The concerned administration in whichever state they have stuck, should be contacted to ensure their safety and provide food and medical help,” he demanded.
He said that a large number of people from Jammu division’s hilly areas especially work in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal in different projects.
At the time when coronavirus has been linked to a community, it becomes alarming situation for which the Government of Jammu and Kashmir most ensure their security of the stranded people in different States of the country.
