Bring banking employees under priority group of vaccination: BMS

JAMMU, May 30: Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) has demanded inclusion of bankers in the list of priority groups for special COVID vaccination drive.
The organization in this regard has written a letter to Lt Governor Manoj Sinha seeking his immediate intervention in the matter.
The letter said that BMS being largest Federation of employees of UT of J&K, having its affiliated unions in most of the banks functional in J&K and as representative of all banking employees of J&K it is concerned for the welfare of these employees. It demanded issuance of notification for recognizing the banking and other financial sector employees as priority group for COVID-19 vaccination.
The letter written by Ashok Choudhary organizing general secretary, BMS UTs of J&K and Ladakh has invited the attention of LG towards the letter issued by Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Government of India whereby recommendations made by Parliamentary Standing Committee of Home Affairs on management of COVID -19 and related issues vide their 299th report which was quoted to consider the banking and other financial sector employees as priority Group for COVID-19 vaccination drive started on May 1 this year.
It also invited the attention of the LG towards the letter issued by Secretary Ministry of Finance, GoI wherein it was once again put on record that the appreciable un interrupted services of banking and other financials sectors be considered as qualifying yardsticks for including these sectors as priority group vaccination to boost their morale and enhancing their enthusiasm for continued financial services in the country during these testing times.
It, while stressing on inclusion of banking employees in the priority group for vaccination said that many bank employees in J&K have lost their lives due to COVID while performing their duties.
The letter demanded immediate issuance of notification by J&K Government to bring the banking and other financial sector employees in priority group for vaccination.
