Come summer and it’s tourist season in the State. Tourists in lakhs throng the State during this period. The tourists mostly visit Kashmir or Ladakh.Only a negligible section of society wanders in and around Jammu city. What is it that does not make Jammu Division a favourite sport for tourists when the province is dotted with a good number of scenic spots. It seems that those associated with tourist industry have failed to sell the idea of Jammu to tourists. Besides, the tourist spots do not get due publicity through print and electronic media.
It has also come into notice that the places where people wish to visit do not have sufficient infrastructure to pamper the ego of tourists. Communication and road network too has remained undeveloped.
In Jammu province, we have some enchanity beauty spots in Kishtwar, Poonch and Bhaderwah. But this have remained unexploited due to lack of interest shown by the people associated with tourism industry. There is need that they come together and voice their concern in this regard.
