RAJOURI, Jan 30: Two-day workshop for teachers, organized by British Council in collaboration with Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, School Education Department J&K, World Voice and J&K Chapter of INTACH, concluded today.
Speaking at the valedictory function, BGSBU Vice-Chancellor Prof Irshad Hamal suggested British Council to approach J&K Government for incorporating play-way method of teaching in curriculum to ensure all round growth and development of the children.
He said that practical teaching is more responsive than theory teaching and British Council is doing good job to popularize the concept but there is need to take up the issue for implementation at the grass-root level. “We want that the concept should continue even though British Council has culminated the project and that will be only possible when Government adopts it in curriculum”. He also suggested a similar workshop for teaching at higher level.
On the occasion, Dean Academic Affairs Prof AK Kaul also highlighted the importance of practical education.
The workshop on ‘World Voice Project and Introduction of Drama in Classroom’ was attended by 90 teachers of Government Schools from District Rajouri.
In the valedictory function, senior functionary of British Council Shivaa Rawat said that Arts-Education workshop is a pioneering initiative of the British Council and the NCERT to initiate a dialogue to understand and implement the recommendations of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005 as well as the Right to Education 2009.
While giving the highlights of the workshop, Altaf Hussain, Convener INTACH said the project is aimed at improving quality of education in the State through Art Integrated Learning and active participation of children.
