REASI, Oct 29: District Development Commissioner Reasi, Dr Shahid Iqbal accompanied by ADC Rajinder Singh Tara, ACD Joginder Singh and other senior officers of district administration and Border Roads Organisation kick-started the blacktopping on Reasi-Mahore road which was delayed since long.
Director General BRO A T Parnaik had issued directions to Chief Engineer Sampark for immediately initiating the blacktopping after proceedings under Section 133 CrPC were initiated by the District Magistrate last month.
The blacktopping of 65 kilometer road from Reasi to Mahore will be a great relief for more than 2 lakh population of this hilly area. DG BRO has also issued instructions for early release of compensation amount and placement at the disposal of Deputy Commissioner for disbursal in respect of land and structures acquired for widening of road.
A delegation of local citizens also called upon the Deputy Commissioner and sought completion of Katra-Reasi road also. The DC informed that BRO has committed to complete all the roads before March and work has been started.
The DC has asked the BRO to minimise damages to public and private land/ property during construction.
